I don’t know if it is cool to geek out over your own movie or not but I got tell you I am stoked (do people still say stoked?) right now.
We just got in some of the first storyboards and they are bad ass. Ben Rosa is handling the storyboards for 1.8 Days and his work is simply amazing. I can’t really tell you too much about the content of the boards but I got goose bumps seeing these characters. The scene is actually one of my favorites so I was looking forward to the boards coming in. If it comes off half as well as the vision I put on paper and Ben drew… you are going to geek out as well.
Ben is doing a great job of capturing the tone of the film. I can imagine it is no easy challenge. I told you about my crazy shot list right? He has to follow that damn thing.
I cannot wait (only a little while longer) to roll cameras.

Currently shedding my corporate world skin, I decided to make some of 1.8 Days' posters, motivational posters. These are based on the posters you see plastered on walls everywhere in offices across the country. You know cubicle hell. Since, we are still developing the marketing plan for 1.8 Days, these are only concepts. You can see them here: 1.8 Days Motivational Posters.

This as we said before is a very exciting time for us and we truly appreciate your interest in 1.8 Days. However, we must ask that you do not submit anything to us at this time. We are not casting additional roles or filling crew slots right now and the flood of headshots/resumes has been a little overwhelming. So, please wait for us to announce the casting/crew calls before sending us anything. Any that we receive before we ask for them will be deleted because we do not have time to sort through them and our casting director is not ready for them either. I would really hate all of you to miss out because you sent in your information too early. This includes submissions sent directly to our email, the 1.8 Days email or via myspace. I hope you understand and know that we want to work with as many of you as we can.

Movie Tao is pleased to announce that Will Turpin has joined the cast of 1.8 days.
Will shot to fame as the amazing bass player for the internationally known band; Collective Soul.
Collective Soul is also going to provide tracks for the film.
Will has recently turned to acting and has worked with our practical EFX director Toby Sells on other projects.
Will is a great talent and a fantastic addition to the cast.
------------------------------------------------
Toby Sells began making monster mask and crude make up at the age of ten. Worked in Los Angeles for Make Up FX artist Mark Shostrom. He is now based in Atlanta Georgia, running his own FX House
"Toby Sells Creature Make up FX Shop". Toby Sells has over 20 years in the business and an education in dental laboratory technology and maxillio facial prosthetics.
Toby's work on the SXSW Film Festival hit: DANCE OF THE DEAD has been getting a lot postive reviews and even though they may not mention him by name, a lot reviewers refer to his work has "pretty amazing." He also received a lot of attention for his work on the cult hit: The Signal.
Toby is very talented and we truly look forward to working with him.

Movie Tao is proud to have Gary Busey joining the cast of 1.8 Days. Gary is a seasoned veteran of the film industry and brings a very unique presence to the roles he plays. He is a legendary actor with classic roles in movies like Point Break and Lethal Weapon. However, you have never seen Gary Busey the way you are going to see him in this movie.
We are very excited about Mr. Busey’s involvement and I personally look forward to working with him.
Mr. Busey, can be seen talking about 1.8 Days in his next interview on the TV Show EXTRA. The interview was taped today (03/13/2008) and should air soon. Make sure you catch it.

So I got the shot list, and I've never seen such a comprehensive list of anything in my life. This thing has it all, a column for Scene number, shot number, action, dialog, special effects, practical effects, type of shot, special lighting requirements, scene descriptions, set descriptions and more.... and he tells me "this is the scaled down version". I was like, WHAT?!
I have the complete list now and am going through making sure the special effects shots are clear and concise for our SFX department to place a proper bid. The problem is, when I look at it for more than 20 mins, I go completely blind and start to slip into a coma... there is just too much information to take in at once. I am breaking it up in little sessions so my attention doesn't wane and I'm sure I'm reading it right.
This is pretty exciting for me, cause this is how I can really get into the director's head (even though we already have a running joke that we're in each other's heads all the time anyway) - but this is more specific. As I read the shots and remember the script, I can really see a fantastic movie coming together.
Movies rule.

It is 12:34 A.M. and I just finished the shot list. There are 1,352 shots in the movie. This does not include the fight sequences (which I will work on with the stunt team and choreographer) and the pick ups. Of course, as I said before I lay out my shot list in terms of how the edit will be so there are not 1,352 camera set ups. Just shots.
What's up next?
1.) Add guiding shots for the choreographer.
2.) Note which camera set-ups are the same.
3.) Note the special EFX shots so that the SFX team can make note of them.
Then I will move on to set-descriptions, costume stuff and clean up the shot descriptions.
Sounds like fun doesn't it? It is. It really is!
